We looked at a few houses again today. This one was a duplex with a particularly interesting leafy vine that went alongside the stucco. It was a duplex up and down with renters on a 1-year lease downstairs. Certainly an intriguing investment, but I doubt we'd qualify even with the renters. We just went to look at what a duplex might be like in the area and price range. We saw a couple of houses that we liked, but I'm still not completely "sold" on any of them. Our favorite had the drawback of really tiny bedrooms, and several smaller things to fix. We saw lots of potential, but I'm not sure what we're up for.
